Dangerous Suicidal Thoughts: Guidelines and Tips for Recovery

Teenage suicide is on the news a lot lately.  Bullying should never be tolerated and if you are a witness to a bullying and do nothing, you are just as much to blame.  Ellen DeGeneres and many other stars are behind the movement to stamp out this kind of behavior.

Suicide is one of the top reasons that teenagers die in America.  It is number 11 on the charts of the most common deaths.  Most people commit suicide at a time of depression, hopelessness and most often when they are hooked on drugs or alcohol.  It is a call for help in most cases. It is not always a means of escape, it is much more.  Escape means trying to run away from something. Most of the time suicide is a running to something which is just the opposite.

White men are in the highest risk category, but women and teens report more attempts.  If someone mentions suicide, take them seriously because it just might be the last time you talk to them. Many attempts will be taken tonight, will you be one of them?

If you are contemplating suicide, read this article.  You are not alone, you are wanted and you most especially are loved.  I have been there and I know how you feel? I contemplated suicide some 20 years ago and am very glad I did not.  Sad times will pass, days will get better and the sun will shine again.

At one time or the other, almost everyone has had suicidal thoughts. Some will hurt their self by cutting, harming or drinking too much. Others will hear voices telling them that they must die, that they are useless to everyone in this world. You must understand that there is hope and you can cope with this crisis. Tomorrows are possible with just a little planning.

Dangerous suicidal thoughts

Normally, you do not get to this point overnight. Thoughts of "I wanna die," come to you after serious and unforeseen incidences in most cases. Severe depression will come from many hardships and life trials, but they are not a reason to kill yourself.

After a series of events that have been too horrible to handle, you may become severely depressed. This extreme depression may cause you to withdraw from the world and create an internal loneliness. You may begin to slowly feel helpless and then, hopeless.

Things you do not want to hear

The things that you do not want to hear are "Cheer up, you have a lot to live for" and the word "No". Depressed people do not want to hear these words.

Steps to recovery

Positive thoughts

There are some positive things that you can do to recover if you still feel that you want to die. Try to think as positive as you can, and one way to do this is with affirmations, such as: "I am beautiful", "I did not cause my divorce", "My kitty is in heaven" or "I have the right to love again". Tell these to yourself over and over again.

Other things to do to help yourself recover are:
  • Get out of the house and do something that you enjoy, like eating ice cream.
  • Visit close friends and learn how to laugh.
  • Plan a trip to anywhere beautiful.
  • Stay away from negative people.
  • Find a new friend online.
  • Go on a diet of healthy eating.
  • Stay away from all abusive substances, such as liquor and drugs.
  • To be safe, hide all guns, knives and harmful objects.

There are so many people willing to help those in need. There should never be another young boy who kills himself because he was being harassed in school. What an awful situation when the mother of a child finds her son dead. How awful that day must of been. Let no one be alone this evening who is feeling suicidal. Let no child ever feel so hopeless that they have no alternative. Suicide is not an escape all the time, sometimes it is a great deal more.
