THE LONGEVITY DIET - I LOVE THIS

YES, THIS IS A WINNER.

I happen to see this on Youtube and was intrigued with many facets of the plan.

  • REDUCED CALORIE
  • INTERMITTEN INTUITIVE FASTING
  • VEGETARIAN TYPE LIFESTYLE OR OPT IN FOR MINIMAL FISH.
  • LOTS OF CHOICES - MINIMUM ITEMS TO REMEMBER

This book was written by Dr Valter Longo, PHD and he has been researching the things he talks about for more than 30 years using different approaches.  


He talks about others doing research on facting and reduced calories and how they cut their disease risk in half for cancer but did very little for longevity.  So this book was to delve into how to live longer and better and yes cut disease too.

This is a pescatarian diet as it does include 3 types of fish low in mercury - shrimp, salmon and tilapia (I do not recommend the latter as it is know to carry lots of worms)


YOU ARE ALLOWED TO EAT:

  • VEGETABLES
  • FRUITS
  • NUTS
  • LOW MERCURY FISH
  • OLIVE OIL
  • BEANS (CHICKPEAS AND LENTILS)


MAJORITY OF YOUR FOOD

  • LEAFY GREENS LIKE SPINACH AND CHARD
  • FIBER RICH VEGETABLES
  • ALL KINDS OF FRUITS
  • NUTS
  • BEANS (LENTILS AND CHICKPEAS)

HIGH SUGGESTIONS

You must eliminate all meats and dairy.  If removing all chicken and meat is not possible, it is suggested to remove as much as possible and quite frankly this is a longevity diet and meat must be removed.  If not immediately in the near future.

As for dairy, you must remove all cow products.  If you can't remove all daily and cheeses then add in goat milk and yogurt and cheese.

FASTING AND TIME LEVELS

He also suggest you fast 2 times a year for 5 days using the intermittent schedule of eating for 12 hours and fasting 12 hours.  I personally feel that twice a year is not near enough.  Dr. Sebi suggested 12 days a year but again that is not enough.

Are we talking about a longevity diet or a short term weight loss diet?  In order to live longer and be healthier then I feel a longer type program is necessary.

BLACK SEED OIL A MUST

Now if we are looking at longevity, no diet should eliminate the key components of black seed healing.  Even taking the minimum amount of dosage (1 teaspoon and honey) should be implemented.

We know that the basics of life include vitamins D2, b12 and C should also be added.

FINALLY

I really like this cooking show that I recently strarted watching.  He is a cook and photographer from Cambodia.  He does a lot of plant based cooking that is so easy to make and prepare. 

All foods should be delicious and inviting.
